Between Platres and Kato Platres, the sanctuary of Panagia Faneromeni was the first church in Platres. In 1880, a newer chapel with the same name was constructed closer to Platres.
This church was demolished and a new, larger and magnificent church was constructed in its place at the expense of the benefactor Phrixos I. Dimitrios.
Its opening took place in 1973. It is an architecturally and aesthetically stunning temple that serves as a crown ornament for the Platres community and is a popular tourist attraction.
